Great relationship building and even better payoff!

This re-release of a 2014 new-adult romance into an audio medium was a great call. Lizzie is an 18-year-old college student whose life has been turned upside down when she finds out her parents have died and she is now the legal guardian of her two younger brothers.

This book is an emotional rollercoaster and I loved the ride. The lows make it easy to empathize with her and seeing her have to make tough decisions really brings the character to life. She is not perfect but she also never claims to be. When you see her starting to get her life together you can do nothing but root for her to make smart decisions.

The romance is not normally a trope I like but I appreciated it being a TA who is a little closer in age than her actual professor but Connor is a gem. He is what makes it believable, he is honest, helpful, and not looking for anything except to just be there for her during a tough time. It makes you want to root for them to make it together.

The new cover design is aligned with the romance covers of the day and the audio narrations bring the story to life. The narrator was compelling giving each character a unique voice that was not distracting or took you out of the story.

Final thoughts - Good amount of Steamy scenes and a relationship where the couple grows together and becomes better versions of themselves is a good new adult book to me!
